Soccer players should embrace a more female role in their team-building and coaching efforts, according to former FIFA world player of the year Dani Alves.
Speaking to the BBC’s Sportsweek programme, Alves revealed how she found her way into the professional world, and her goals and experiences as a woman who is now playing at a top level.
She said: “I think that we all have a different way of thinking about playing, and that is that you can’t change your gender.”
We can’t take a gender and make it into a different thing.
“So when you are in your career you have to make yourself a part of the team.”
You have to be the one who’s responsible for making sure that the team is going well.
“And you have got to be a good leader.
Alves revealed that it took her many years to get to where she is today.””

“I think I have a really big heart, and I know I have got a big heart,” she said.
“When you are playing for a team, the best you can do is be yourself.”
So, if you want to become better, I think you have a lot to learn, and you have just got to try to be yourself.
“Alve has played a central role in the Brazilian national team since joining the side in 2016, and has been the team’s first choice for the World Cup.
She has been part of Brazil’s World Cup winning squad, but her performances at the tournament have seen her criticised in the press.
Her comments to Sportsweek are not the first time she has commented on women’s sports, having also previously spoken out against the way women are portrayed in the media.
She told the BBC: “Women are just a little bit different, but they are also a little bigger.
“But I think that’s a good thing.”””
It’s a problem that women are always in a position where they have to say, ‘I can’t do this because I’m a woman’, and I think there’s a real shame in that.””

She added: “The problem is not that they’re not good enough, it’s that they aren’t good enough.”
If they are good enough for the game they can play well.
