Game of Thrones season 5 will premiere on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, HBO has confirmed.
The show will take place between the end of the sixth season and the start of the seventh, and will follow the life of Cersei Lannister.
The show is the third to be adapted from George R.R. Martin’s novels and will be the first in the franchise to be released in digital form.
HBO’s announcement comes a few days after the company revealed that Game of Death will be available on its service in January 2019.
The series, based on the bestselling fantasy series by George R R. Martin, is about the epic struggle between the Seven Kingdoms, a medieval kingdom of fantasy, and the forces of Good and Evil.
The seventh season will also feature the return of new characters such as a female dragon and a new dragon of the same name.
Game of Throne season 6 will be released on the HBO app in January 2020.
HBO has yet to reveal when the series will be screened or whether there will be any additional special features or special extras, but the first episode of the season will air on January 17.
Game of Death season 7 will be aired in January 2021.
